Differences among Mandolin Styles

A Style - Eastman models their A4 oval hole and A5 F hole style mandolins after early Gibson
models, but with a paddle headstock. These are modestly priced, light, and very nice:
- MD504/MD505 - Basic models with partial binding, relatively plain wood. $750 list.
- MD604/MD605 - Standard models with full binding, nice wood. $950 list.
- MD804/MD805 - Upgraded models with AAA wood and triple binding. $1250 list.

F Style - Eastman models their F4 oval hole and F5 F hole style mandolins after Gibson
models. F style mandolins are standard in bluegrass:
- MD514/MD515 - Basic models with partial binding, relatively plain wood. $1250 list.
- MD614/MD615 - Standard models with full binding, nice wood. $1550 list.
- MD814/MD815 - Upgraded models with AAA wood and triple binding. $1950 list.
- MD914/MD915 - AAAA tonewood, curly maple binding, superlative! $2850 list.

Two Point - Eastman two point mandolins are a bit different from others. Tone bars and either
F or oval holes. A zingy, jazzy tone. Very nice performers!
- MD804D/MD805D - Paddle headstock, AAA wood and triple binding. $1350 list.
- MD904D/MD905D - F headstock, AAAA tonewood, curly maple binding. $1850 list.

Mandola - Eastman currently makes one F mandola. More punch and sustain than you'd
think. Really nice instrument, modest price.
- MDA615 - Standard F mandola, figured wood and standard binding. $1995 list.
