75% Trade In On Our Branded Bowed String Products
We have a 75% trade in program. We know others have a 100% trade in program. We have to wonder where that costs goes. Somebody is paying, and it isn't the business. We give great prices up front and assure you of a known value on trading in our branded products
General Policy: 75% of the full original price against items costing at least 125% of the original price or higher, less costs associated with restoration as described below.
Reduction for condition: We will decrease the amount of the trade in to account for wear and tear. For example, if a bow needs rehairing to be sold, then we will rehair it. If violin strings are too worn to sell on a violin from our shop, we will change out the strings and reduce the trade in amount. On substantially worn instruments, we will figure a price we will sell the instrument for and will reduce the trade in value. We reserve the right to reject an instrument that is excessively worn or was custom ordered with features that make it less salable.
Custom, fractional, and benchmade instruments generally excluded: We reserve the right to exclude custom instruments from this program or to reduce the amount of trade in value. We also may exclude special order, benchmade and high value, slow moving instruments from this program. We also have no market for fractional instruments and only obtain these on special order. The buyer is actually in a better position to pass along a fractional instrument to other students.
We can modify our policy: We reserve the right to cancel or modify this policy at any time.
Limitations and terms: This policy applies to our bowed string instruments, bows, and cases only. "Price" is the amount you paid or the amount an instrument sold for here at Gianna's at the time you traded for it.
Dont' make assumptions: Please inquire prior to sending an item back in as a trade or assuming that we will accept it.
Other Makes of Bowed String Instruments and Bows We Sell
We may allow trade in for instruments not of our brand, at our discretion. We will take into account condition. In general, we try to allow at least 60% of what we expect to sell something for in the end. We also prefer to get at least 50% of the "list" price of a new item in cash.
Mandolins and Guitars
We've been faced with having to deep discount mandolins and guitars. Thus we've phased out our previously generous trade in policy. We'll consider trades as outlined immediately below. Our generous policy has become a casualty of consumer demand for the lowest possible price.
We Will Consider Accepting Instruments We Didn't Sell On Trade
Our clients like guitars, mandolins, banjos, violins, fiddles, viola da gamba, and bows. We will consider taking these items in partial or complete trade for items from our shop. We may even make cash offers on some instruments. We generally offer as trade in value 60% of what we anticipate selling the item for after restoration. You are likely better off selling something yourself or on consignment. Inquire.
Consignment
We will accept instruments on consignment at our discretion. We impose a 20% fee if and when the item sells, plus any other fees incurred (e.g., restoration costs, eBay listing fee).
Not Part of the Purchase Agreement
This policy is not part of our purchase agreement. We can exercise our right to exclude any instrument at any time from this program, and similarly decide to accept instruments on trade that fall outside of this policy. All aspects are entirely at our discretion. Customer attitude will figure into trade negotiations to a surprisingly large extent.
