Elvis shows an amazing amount of patience with
everyone he meets. He has yet to be intimidated,
frightened or annoyed by inappropriate handling.
Elvis thoroughly enjoys meeting other people, dogs
and going to new places.
Gianna is currently studying for becoming a "Pet
Partner" team with Elvis in the Delta Society. She
is also looking forward to participating in the local
HABIT program providing animal assisted therapy
and animal assisted activities in the East
Tennessee Region. Gianna was active with HABIT
for over nine years with her well loved companion,
Brenna.

Handsome devil!
Although you can't see it, Elvis
wears a lovely raised stitched
bridle leather collar which he
gets complemented on a lot. If
you're interested in such a
collar, go to:
www.pphorse.com and look at
their dog collars.

Elvis' mom did some Christmas
shopping and found a wonderful
little shop for custom made canine
coats (equine too). The
workmanship is very nice and the
price is extremely reasonable.

Elvis LOVES his new duds!
Also visit pphorse.com where Elvis got his elegant

ELVIS, A TREEING WALKER COONHOUND
Gianna Violins
At Gianna Violins we love more than just music. Meet Elvis, a Lemon Treeing Walker Coonhound. Elvis was adopted from
the Knox County Humane Society in August of 2003 at about the age of 8 weeks. He and his littermates were "owner
surrendered" as Coonhound mixes. His siblings solid "muddy brown" coloring may have suggested mixed breeding, but we
see no evidence in Elvis.
Coonhounds and Obedience
A former obedience trainer, Gianna began working with Elvis from the very beginning on the basics, "sit", "down" as well as
walking on a loose lead. She may not be the best witness as to the Treeing Walker's training abilities, but she has been
impressed, none the less. He learns very quickly, thinks for himself, and is an effective problem solver. The best dog she
ever worked with was their 10 year old Border Collie, but she'll say that Elvis is "right up there" with his ease of training. He
doesn't "obsess" over things like the Border Collie does, is more laid back and more willing to "go with the flow", not being
tied to ritual behavior. Very nice working dog, very in-tune with his surroundings and others.
Coonhound Sociability
As for the Treeing Walker's home life and social skills, "I've seen none better", she says. He acknowledges each and every
family member (even the 6 yr. old!) and treats everyone with equal kindness, patience and attention. He's wonderful with
strangers and very polite. In the shop, once he's made his greetings, he goes to his bed and crashes and you forget he's
even there. Out in public, he "usually" remembers to sit politely while greeting someone. For an immense dog, it's amazing
how quiet, laid back and polite he can be.
Elvis was recently a "life saver", giving blood for a canine-in-need at his vets' office. He was happy to help!
